So the wool felt party was planned. Beth brought a whole basket of wool felt, and we were set for several hours of experiencing first hand the joy of wool felting. And you know what? We loved it!
Joan had a host of delightful patterns for us to use. Three-dimensional ornaments... Adorable Christmas stockings with a host of decorating ideas... Baby Jesus in the manger... Snowmen... It was hard to decide where to begin!
Lucky for us, these cute little things aren't very time consuming. In fact, it was rather amazing how quickly we found ourselves reaching for the basket of wool and starting the design and color-picking process all over again.
With twelve of us stitching, there was the occasional moment when we had to wait for the iron or the pattern pieces that we needed. Not to worry! Joan provided a big bowl of her delicious caramel popcorn and Beth had made a pan of her infamous lemon bars.
We had so much fun at Joan's, the fun continued at our house the next day. Rather than our usual quilting/smocking/knitting/whatever-we're-currently-working-on projects during lesson time, the wool felt basket made another appearance. :)
I still don't flip to the wool felt pages first, but I've found that I rather enjoy having this quick and fun outlet for creativity. Not to mention, they are a great addition to our Christmas tree. Did our tree really need more ornaments, you ask. Well... It's the Kincell tree. The more, the merrier! It's supposed to be busy and full of ornaments from each year of our lives. This year's ornaments are just mostly made out of wool felt. :)
